Jana Kukaine, PhD, an assistant Professor and lead researcher at Riga Stradins University, and an independent feminist art curator. She is the author of the monograph Lovely Mothers. Woman. Body. Subjectivity (Riga: Neputns, 2016), a pioneering study on motherhood in Latvian contemporary art. In 2024, her monograph Feminist Art in Postsocialism: A Perspective of Visceral Aesthetics, will be published, which introduces visceral aesthetics as a theoretical framework for exploring feminist art in postsocialism. Jana Kukaine’s research interests are environmental, posthuman, and postsocialist feminisms.
