Jan Sowa is a professor in the Department of Culture Theory at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, a materialist dialectic theoretician, and a curator. He holds a PhD in sociology and a habilitation in cultural studies. He predominantly works on modernity and modernization in (semi)peripheral zones of the capitalist world-system.
