Thuy-Han Nguyen-Chi is a Milky Way-based artist whose practice mutates in and out
of sculpture, installation, performance, moving image, and interdisciplinary research. Her work explores imaginaries of freedom at the intersection of documentary and fiction, film-making and film theory, personal/prosthetic memory and
individual/collective histories. Having studied Fine Arts at the Städelschule and Film at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, she is currently pursuing PhD research in Film at the University of Westminster.

This conversation between filmmaker and artist Thuy-Han Nguyen-Chi and C-MAP Asia Fellow Wong Binghao is accompanied by a two-week screening of Nguyen-Chi’s film Into The Violet Belly (2022), and a collage by designer Ghazaal Vojdani that responds to the conversation.
