Thomas J. Lax is Curator of Media and Performance Art at MoMA, a position he’s held since 2014. At the Museum, he has organized or co-organized exhibitions, performances, and publications including Steffani Jemison: Promise Machine, Greater New York 2015, Maria Hassabi: PLASTIC, Projects 102: Neïl Beloufa, and Modern Dance: Ralph Lemon, among others.
In this conversation the two discuss Pilar’s artistic formation; her use of family lore and fabulation in her interventions into the silences of the state archive; and her interests in science and digital technology.
