Néstor García Canclini

Néstor García Canclini is Distinguished Professor at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana de México and Emeritus Professor of the National Scheme for Mexican Researchers. He is the recipient of the Guggenheim Fellowship, the Casa de las Américas Prize, and the Latin American Studies Association Book Award for Hybrid Cultures: Strategies for Entering and Leaving Modernity, which was awarded the prize for best book about Latin America in 1992. He has taught at the universities of Austin, Duke, New York, Stanford, Barcelona, Buenos Aires and São Paulo. His books have been translated into English, French, Italian, Portuguese and Korean. His most recent book, La sociedad sin relato. Antropología y estética de la inminencia, published by Katz Editores, will be published by Duke University Press as Art beyond Itself: Anthropology for a Society without a Story Line in 2014, alongside another new book titled Imagined Globalization.
