Magali Ohouens

Magali Ohouens is a PhD candidate in Art History at Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne University, focusing on African art and heritage from the 20th to the 21st century, with an emphasis on colonial and postcolonial studies. Her doctoral thesis investigates museum and artistic history in Ghana from the 1920s to the 1970s. She has received multiple fellowships, such as the Jean Walter Zellidja grant from the Académie Française in 2023 and the Mennour grant in 2024. In addition to her research, she teaches contemporary art at both the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and the Université Paris Nanterre, and African art at the École du Louvre (Louvre Museum School). She co-coordinated the March 2025 issue of Troubles dans les collections, focusing on the history of the Musée Dynamique de Dakar (1966-1988), and contributes to publications like Le Grand Tour and Histoire de l’Art.
