Geaninne Gutiérrez-Guimarães

Geaninne Gutiérrez-Guimarães is Associate Curator of the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and Foundation based in New York. She joined the Guggenheim’s curatorial staff in 2015 and specializes in modern and contemporary Latin American art. Currently, she is the co-curator of two forthcoming exhibitions focused on the works by Chilean artist Cecilia Vicuña (2022) and German-Venezuelan artist Gego (Gertrud Goldschmidt) (2023) at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York. She is also the co-curator of an upcoming exhibition celebrating the collection on the occasion of the museum’s 25th Anniversary at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao (2022). Previously, she organized a historical exhibition dedicated to the early works by Brazilian artist Lygia Clark at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao (2019). Ms. Gutiérrez-Guimarães is also involved with the Guggenheim’s Latin American Circle, a committee of patrons who provide financial support for the acquisition of works by Latinx and Latin American artists for the museum’s permanent collection. She received her BA in art history from Hunter College (CUNY), and her MA in art history and museum studies from City College (CUNY).
