Elizabeth Gollnick

Elizabeth Gollnick was the 2016-2017 Andrew W. Mellon Museum Research Consortium Fellow in the Department of Media and Performance Art at MoMA, where she previously worked as Research Assistant and Performance Facilitator for Martha Rosler’s Meta-Monumental Garage Sale. She was the Research Fellow for the Robert Rauschenberg Oral History Project, a collaboration between the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation and the Columbia Center for Oral History Research. As a PhD candidate in the art history department at Columbia University, she studies modern and contemporary art with a focus on performance, feminism and spatial politics. She is writing her dissertation on women artists in postwar California who made work using light and technical materials. The project explores the tactics used by these artists before the discursive spaces of feminist practice and institutional critique were fully formed.
