Postwar: Art Between the Pacific and the Atlantic, 1945-65, an exhibition on view at Haus der Kunst in Munich from October 2016 – March 2017, presents the period and its art as already global, multi-faceted, and modern. Katy Siegel is co-curator of the exhibition, with Okwui Enwezor and Ulrich Wilmes. In this video, taken from the livestream of a lecture delivered at The Museum of Modern Art on March 8, Siegel speaks about the curatorial thought and research behind the exhibition, followed by a conversation with Professor Romy Golan.

Siegel is the Eugene V. and Clare E. Thaw Endowed Chair at Stony Brook University and Senior Curator of Research and Programming at the Baltimore Museum of Art. Golan is Professor of 20th century Art at the Graduate Center, City University of New York. She contributed “Realism as International Style” (co-authored with Nikolas Drosos) to the Postwar: Art between the Pacific and the Atlantic, 1945-1965 exhibition catalog.

Part of the post presents lecture series, this talk is also the keynote of the conference Art, Institutions, and Internationalism: 1933-1966 organized by The Center for the Humanities, CUNY Graduate Center.
