In this 5 Questions interview, curator Carolina Ponce de León discusses Colombian art history, describing how Conceptual art of the late 70s in Colombia differed from similar practices in South America. She also thinks through national and hegemonic narratives of art history as a double exercise and critiques the term “global art” as a kind of aesthetic whitewashing that erodes specificity while the term “international” allows for transnational relations alongside grit and particularity.
